Kat had stepped into the store, slipping quickly behind a display of all sort of strange odds and ends. Some hissed and fizzled when touched, some whirred to life on their own before slowing down to a stop just as you walked by. Most had really flashy packages, claiming to explode and terrorize the buyers chosen victim. And of course this would catch the eye of anyone young of age, or heart. So Kat found herself cautiously looking through them, ever so often using her finger to turn a gadget or odd creation over to further investigate or simply see what else was underneath. Now the ones that changed the color of their consumers face, or hair.. now that was appealing. But still all in all she wasn't determined on buying anything right now anyway.. Though she did promise Sam she'd bring her something home this time.
She sighed slightly, glancing about at the other side of the room as she tried to decide just which item her little sister would squeal over more. And though perhaps one would first think this annoyed her, somewhere beneath the black and sarcasm she was smiling ever so slightly.. of course not to the visible eye. But all this noise was ringing about the room, making her pay more attention to her inside voice and making it easy to miss those around her...

Well, Gabe had done some thinking since his last disastrous encounter with Kat and considering a small amount of time had passed since then, he supposed it was alright to confront her one more time. Of course, this trip to Diagon Alley hadn't been about finding Kat, just about picking up a few neat little toys to annoy his mother with, but when Gabe entered the Weasly shop, he felt everything on his list come grinding to a halt. His feet wanted to instantly run away, but his heart wouldn't let him. Gabe had really mucked things up last time and he couldn't let things stay that way any longer. Perhaps this time around, away from their friends and separate stresses, things would go better...or at least in some misguided hopeless way he wished they would.
Dressed in his usual black dress slacks and white button up shirt, sans tie of course, Gabe stood in the entrance of the shop for just a moment or two before being rather rudely shoved inside as two or three younger kids charged in. Gabe merely smiled and shook his head as he watched the kids split off and find their own separate vices within the shop. This of course was just a brief distraction from the real moment though. Collecting himself as best he could and pushing himself on, Gabe made the dangerous trek toward Kat and her rather equally dangerous temper.
"Hey Kat," he said rather happily, even if it was somewhat forced, Gabe greeted his favorite Slytherin of the hour. He tried to be upbeat, hoping to keep the would be conversation before him somewhat neutral. This time he reminded himself (if he even got the chance), that he would be a bit more serious and not make a total fool out of Kat or himself. He wouldn't scream and joke like he did, no he would treat her in the way which would make her feel more...well...I guess comfortable for the lack of a better word. Gabe made sure to keep a least a smacking distance from Kat, in case she really wasn't into talking to him, but he did try to get as close as safety would allow.

Kat heard a familiar voice from behind her and she wasn't sure who it was until she turned around. She exhaled slightly as if she was annoyed. What were the chances that he'd be here right now, right when she was here? Well either way the shop wasn't big enough to run in and she still needed to find a gift so she would act like she usually did. "Hey, creepy-stalker-guy.", she responded. After all it did seem like he found her at the oddest time and in the oddest places.
But she still didn't give Gabe anything else to work with. After all he had highly annoyed her with his scream fest last time. Acting all serious and such then bursting out like he did. Yeah, she was still pissed about it.
She didn't know if he would have anything to say about her comment but she wasn't going to stand here all day and find out. She turned her icy blue eyes back to the rack in front of her and she started walking around it. Finding herself, or trying to, more comfortable away from him. She didn't know if it was best to be close to him and supervise him so he wouldn't cause the worlds biggest ruckus or if it was best to get out of sight so she wouldn't be the victim.
She was glancing at the items, tucking her hair behind her ear with her right hand. She wore a grey turtle neck top, wide leg black pants, and her robe. A black beret hat sat on top of her head, her long black curls falling out from underneath. Her make up was minimal, black eyeliner with just a touch of blue around them to draw them out but no real amount of shadow. Her lips were pink, a shade darker than their normal color with a natural hue, and her nails were done up in a french manicure, well except the tips were black instead of white. One look at her and you'd never guess that she was so anti-social, but she is.

Not exactly the welcome Gabe wanted, but then again it could have been worse. She gave him the cold shoulder of sorts and while that was bad enough, at least she was putting forth a civil effort. She could have taken her aggression out physically, but instead exercised some common sense, but then again, that could just be because they were in public. Judging from their last encounter, Kat was about appearance and while she might not openly admit that, it was true. Everyone cared about appearance, at least from time to time they did and all those emo weirdo's out there who cried that they didn't sure put forth a lot of effort to be seen not being seen.
Now, Kat's attempt to get away only put Gabe in a worse spot, but he had to at least say he was sorry. This would probably only piss her off more, but Gabe had his ways and he couldn't rest until he said his part. So, side stepping around the rack, he met Kat on the other side, his hands finding themselves behind his back. "Sorry about the whole yelling part last time," he began, anticipating a sharp reply which would cut him off halfway through, so he just kept barreling on in, hoping that if Kat did decide to jump in quickly, he could be heard over her. "I was trying to be funny, trying to make you laugh," he said, rambling right on along, "It was all just harmless fun," he finished, readying himself to hit the road behind him. He wasn't sure if Kat would explode on him or not, but having seen just a sneak peak of the monster that dwelt beneath those fair eyes was enough to make him a bit more cautious this time around.

Kat had some little cylindrical object in her hand as he came around and apologized. Really she had hoped that he wouldn't, follow her I mean. And after he got his quick comments out she put it down and turned her icy eyes upon his. "Really?", she asked, her eyes narrowing and seeming colder than necessary. "Because to me it seemed that you picked out a Slytherin to just amuse yourself with. I mean fitting me into that stereotypical type like a Malfoy - which I really don't appreciate - and every little minute detail that you thought would really strike a cord with me you had to yell it out to the whole world as if you wanted everyone to witness my 'usual Slytherin reaction'." She even moved her hands up and wiggled her fingers as she said this, further adding to the case how it seemed he just had her labeled as something instead of realizing she was someone.
She gave a slight pause wondering if he was this stupid, I mean to the point where he didn't know what he was doing. That wasn't really likely, was it? And if she thought him that stupid perhaps she would have gotten over it days ago - but she hadn't.
She started back up again in an icy tone, "In case you haven't noticed poking fun at me and my house aren't really all that humorous to me. You really should have found that out much earlier however, like when you decided you had to scream out in the library." She narrowed her left eye in thought, pondering this queer situation over for a bit. "I think perhaps you just like the attention and me being a Slytherin made it all that much jucier.... didn't it?" Well that would make sense. If he was desperate and seeking attention the quickest way to distract everyone was for some chance interaction with a Slytherin - if you were indeed Hufflepuff and muggle born (which right now she didn't know if it was true or just an exaggeration to torment her). But then again that was a topic for another time, wasn't it? When and if he could indeed be civil.
Her mind started clicking with all sorts of evil thoughts. She didn't like to be made fun of and she usually made sure that no one was laughing in the end. Did he plan on doing something completely retarded today? And as her mind was clicking she talked before she really meant to. "Did you hunt me down here outside school because you get a whole new audience of admirers? I mean cause if you want to make a scene, well perhaps I can make it worth your while." A slight smirk played on her lips. She owed him, at least she honestly believed that in her eyes but she could be much crueler than she let on. If he kept poking her well it depended on how much he could take and forgive as to if they would ever speak again...

Some of the things Kat made sense to Gabe and while it did paint him in a light he didn't like, he could see what she was talking about. Perhaps he was being a bit too overbearing before and wanted to push her to the breaking point. That wasn't his intentions or at least that was what he told himself and after a second or two of pondering that, Gabe surrendered that he had done what he really didn't like having done to him. Kat had every right to be mad at him and like it or not, Gabe had to own up to it all now. Pride was a very bitter taste but thank goodness Gabe had gotten used to it by now.
The way Kat waved her hands and fingers about made him smile as he saw something he hadn't before....Humor. Kat had a silly side hid beneath all that dark and foreboding nature of hers, it just had to be dug out and dusted off. The smile he was fighting quickly gave way as something Kat said, made a bit more sense than the rest. "If it didn't bother you like you said it didn't, then why did you bolt off like that?," he asked her, putting up a hand to indicate it was all rhetorical, "I admit, I was being stupid, but I wasn't trying to piss you off," he finished, scratching the back of his head now, trying to figure all this out now in a new light, "At least....I don't think I was," he said slowly now, forcing himself to realize the truth. "Maybe some part of me wanted to push you, but I can say that's not really me. I apologize for making you mad," he went on, his hands falling to his sides again as he slumped his shoulders somewhat, "Give me another chance to show you who I really am. I promise, no more pushing or poking at who you are or who I think you might be," he added, making a cross across his heart, curious if Kat would catch the muggle meaning behind it.

Kat kept her eyes on him as he questioned why she ran. But he really didn't mean her to answer that because he went on telling her he didn't mean to piss her off. Then just what was he trying to do? He had some strange tactics if this was his way at making friends. But then again she didn't always say the right things at the right time. So unlike her usual nature she decided to let it go for now. Besides she knew that this would get really tiring after a while and he was more likely able to keep doing this than her.
Still it would be nice to make him uncomfortable for a while. He'd upset her so much.. perhaps it was just wanting to feed off of someone else's misery. Or some sort of need for revenge. Well she really didn't know how to go about it because right now she was sort of tired of having bad days. She had came out just to enjoy the change of scenery.
She didn't have to think long about giving him a second chance. Not that she had really planned on spending her day with him, again.. But it wouldn't be really enjoyable spending the rest of it arguing with him either. Because she found out quickly the first time that he didn't give up easily.
Being at a point where she really didn't much care what he thought of her (one of those sort of numb days), she leaned in really close, bringing her right arm up to let her hand rest on his cheek as she whispered in his ear, "It would be in your best interest to not piss me off." She patted his cheek a little then leaned back letting her hand fall back to her side.
She pondered the situation over for a moment, leaning her head to the side for a moment. "Alright, if you want to spill your heart out to me and what not.. I've got nothing really big planned but I don't think that this is the appropriate place." She turned to look at the items again, still determined to find something for her sister. "Say.. let's pretend you're a nine year old girl.... scratch that, just tell me what you like here." Yeah, he seemed to be about on the same level as her sister sometimes. At least she had confidence that they would have this much in common...

Once again, Kat was going to give him a chance, but for what reason, well...that was up in the air I guess. Gabriel was on thin ice and sure footing was a thing of the past, so he knew that each step he took with Kat had to be the right on, because just like an unknown frozen lake, you only got one chance. This little allegory was backed up by her sweet intimidation of whispering just how careful he should be with her. Of course, this little warning was almost lost as Gabriel had a bit of difficulty of keeping his mind on track. I mean, Gabriel wasn't the type to be nervous around girls, but with Kat it was a whole new ballgame.
As her hand dropped from his face, Gabriel suddenly remembered his body needed oxygen to function and quickly resumed breathing once again. His face turned slightly red and he gave a short nervous laugh of sorts as Kat made the remark of the resemblance of him and a nine year old girl. True it hurt his ego ever so slightly, but the comment was funny and he saw the humor in it, even if it was deeply hidden. As he let his eyes look the rack over, he wondered if Kat had a sister, after all she had made the remark, but then again, it could be for a cousin or friend's sister back home, it was really hard to tell. Gabriel however, decided to go with the obvious and assume it was Kat's sister she was referring to here.
His eyes stopped on a rather interesting piece of chewing gum, which when chewed let you spit fifteen vibrant flavors. He however removed his hand quickly as he realized this was a girl he was shopping for and not himself and went with the hard candy which when swallowed, changed your hair a different color every hour until the candy was out of your system. "What's your sister's name," he said as he picked up the candy and held it out for Kat, but then suddenly had an idea, "My treat," he said as he closed his hand before Kat could take the candy from him, "And before you go getting worked up, consider it a peace treaty and....well....just because I'd like to," he said to her, more of questionably than really telling her, giving her a squinted look like a little boy might give his mother when asking for a cookie before supper.

Kat sort of picked up on the fact that he was acting a bit strange. However she really didn't think that he genuinely liked her. I mean if he did he had a funny way of showing her. I mean he was alright at first but he always seemed to close with something completely absurd. But anyway she seemed to have found a way to throw him off guard or embarrass him. However it would be used sparingly because she wasn't really that touchy feely sort of person.
Kat watched him as he looked around at the treats in front of him. She rubbed the hem of her sleeve, a bad habit she had - always having to keep her hands busy .. or at least something if she wasn't fully distracted. He had almost picked up some sort of bubble gum but changed his mind and picked up something else. She didn't think nothing about it when he held the piece of candy up towards her and she had started to reach out and take it. However he quickly changed his mind and kept it. Well she wouldn't argue. At least purchasing a piece of candy couldn't be flubbed up, could it?
"Samantha.", she answered him softly, her eyes staying on his. "How about you? Do you have any brothers or sisters?" He hadn't really told her anything about his family and despite the fact of other people thinking it wasn't important, well it was. True your family's name didn't make you but having siblings, well especially from Kat's perspective it can change you so much during certain situations. And if they were lucky, just perhaps they would find a topic of conversation that they could agree on. "You could start by telling me about your family... talking I mean."

Gabe smiled a bit more confidently now as Kat allowed him this little bit of peace. Sure it was just a piece of candy and while it wasn't some extravagant gift, it was the principle of the situation. Kat had given him some sort of forgiveness and while it wasn't much, at least it was a start. Gabe flipped the candy around with his fingers and carefully planted his foot for the next step.
Kat was a very odd young woman, as if she was at odds with herself. She put forth quite the effort to seem rigid and tough, but the more Gabe talked to her, the more of a softer side he saw. At first she was always reluctant to answer him, but almost every time, she would answer him anyway. She wasn't like the other Slytherin members he had the good luck to meet and come across, no...she was slightly different. Sure she had the traits, but the personality was all different.
"Samantha," he said sort of to himself, like he was turning something over in his mind, and to be honest, he was. Lillian and Samantha, two very different names and two windows to a hidden life Gabe had yet to come to know. He wondered if Samantha was as quick spirited as her big sister was and this thought made him laugh slightly. "I don't have any siblings...just me," he said as he extended his hand in a direction indicating he would like to shop just a bit longer before leaving, after all, he had come here for a reason. "Mum or dad didn't have the time to spend on any more, so they stopped with me," he said still smiling, but his eyes indicating a bit of disappointment there, "Of course, I can't really blame them, they're both pretty busy," he added, looking over some various treats and tricks, picking this and that up as he slowly walked, "As I said before, both of them are muggles," he said glancing at Kat from corner of his eye to watch her movements and reactions, "Dad's a musician, mum's a model of sorts, though she doesn't work much any more, mostly just talk shows and what not," he added with a laugh as he found something which evidently caught his delight. "Do you," he began to ask, still looking the racks over, "Do you know a lot about the muggle world?," he asked her genuinely, for her remarks from their previous conversation had sparked a bit of curiosity.

He said her sisters name and it brought back happier memories. Sure they had had plenty of hard times but she wasn't close to anyone like she was her sister. Her sister depended on her and well, that can really change one and their perspective. Her eyes seemed to slip out of focus only briefly before he started speaking again. The idea of getting her a pygmy puff slipped up in her mind but she decided that she would wait. Surely some day soon she could bring her here and let her pick out some things she wants.
Gabe started talking a bit about himself and that gave her the opportunity to keep up the conversation. She glanced back up at him, listening as he talked about his mom and dad. "Did they spend alot of time with you?" She wondered if his parents were too caught up in their own lives and fame to worry about their son. And if that was the case, well then it was pretty sad. And before he could even start to answer another question popped up in her head, "Is that why you were born into money?" She didn't mean to sound rude. I mean she wasn't poor but she definitely wasn't rich either. She had nice things but they weren't exactly big designer items and she didn't go around bragging. No, she wasn't that fortunate to have all she ever wanted and when she couldn't have something she just forgot about it. And Gabe hadn't really said anything about having money but he sort of didn't have to. Now he probably wasn't at like the Malfoys level but he seemed to be doing very well.. especially with the way he always dressed and seemed to take good care of his physical appearance.
He asked her if she knew alot about muggles and she wasn't going to lie. However she didn't seem like she was really eager to start a conversation up on the matter either. "Yeah." She didn't even care how he knew. After all she found herself slipping up and saying things all the time. I guess it was easy if you were muggle born and you thought you were around a muggle hating Slytherin. Not that she was really that much of a muggle lover. No, she really didn't care much about any muggle she had met. And hopefully that list wouldn't grow either. I mean after school she planned on working and living entirely in the wizarding world.

Things were actually moving smoother this time around and Gabe appreciated that. He wasn't sure if he could pull off another chance with Kat, but then again, it wasn't him who was doing that. It all came down to what Kat wanted and decided, and the way she was treating him now, actually letting him earn this conversation, well....it showed the side Gabe knew was there. The Slytherin logo on her school robes and the way she acted in the hallways or at least the way others perceived her was all just a look, something which had been driven into their heads from day one. It was this which Gabe worked so hard to tear down, not order, but disorder. All the four houses crap was the very thing which helped breed disaster and chaos. The Slytherin's kept having elitist doctrine shoved down their throats and Gryffindor's were urged to resist such teaching....I mean really, how much double speak could actually be spread around before someone finally spoke up?
Kat had a few questions as he finished up talking and while some might have put up a defense of their parents, Gabe didn't feel like he had to so that. Gabe's parent's had always been there for him, but they just didn't want anymore children, no harm in that. He understood their reason and while he didn't agree with their reasons, he still respected them for being so honest about it. "They made time for me when they could, like any other parent I guess," he said stopping his search of the store for a moment as he turned his head about and looked around to make sure he hadn't missed anything of interest, "Went on a few photo shoots with mum and dad let me sit in on some shows every now and again, so....yeah, plenty of time for ol' Gabe," he finished answering, looking to Kat with a smile, "I'm still buying. You want anything?," he asked her, motioning to some of the items around them with his finger.
The part about money sat funny with him for a second, curious if she was looking at him the way others looked at her. Did she see him like the Malfoys and Blacks? He didn't take offense mind you, but rather found a new perspective in which to see her situation. "I guess you don't think about money when your born into it," he said with a nervous laugh, and to be honest, that was the way he felt. Gabe had never really thought about all the money his family had, unlike a few others of his standing.

When Gabe talked about the 'time' he spent with his parents, well it sounded sort of... sad. How vain would someone have to be to even keep that special time revolved around them? I mean to have a job was one thing - but to only tag your kid along as if this was some bonding favor, especially while they are all up in the spotlight... It would be weird to see your parents from their fan's perspectives and not as real people.. not as parents. But then again Kat really didn't know what went through their minds. Nor was she going to tell him it sounded like he had a pretty sorry childhood. Who was she to try to judge? Besides perhaps they did spend more time with him than it sounded. Whichever the case she decided it would be best not to comment.
Her thoughts were quickly pushed aside as he spoke to her again, motioning around them. She shook her head just slightly, this wasn't really her type of place. I mean there were a few neat things in here but she didn't share the same excitement as most others did. "No, thanks." she finally responded, bringing her arms up to cup her hands on her elbows. Her eyes drifted away for only a moment before turning back to him. "What did you pick out?", she asked curiously, taking a look at the items he held.
When he made his comment about money she gave a dry laugh, more like a scoff. "Yeah? You should stay in the Slytherin house for about a week then say that with a straight face." Her expression grew more serious, she didn't mean to really down her house... "Not everyone's bad. I just get so sick of people flaunting their financial status about when it's really nothing to brag about. I mean the things I am proud of, well I earned it myself. I don't expect the world to be bought out for me, nor anyone else." She didn't know if her comment would offend Gabe or not but she wasn't the type to worry over such a thing. She wasn't too fond of rich people because they were basically all made from one mold.. and one product (horse sh*t). And she wasn't really chalking Gabe in there with the majority. I mean after all she had talked to him on two occasions and he didn't have to brag about some sort of nice item he had custom made by some strange person whose name she couldn't even pronounce.. nor had ever even heard. Did they really think that this special signature was going to really increase the value of something?

Gabe was quickly being introduced to the real Kat, one small layer at a time and from what he was seeing, he liked. Kat was certainly different from some of the other Slytherin elitists he had tried to befriend over the years and if he could just get others to invest the time he had spent in getting to know Kat, well...then maybe things might be a bit different in the world. She was proud, nothing wrong there, but she was also practical. Kat knew the value of things, or at least had an idea and while she necessarily didn't see things the way Gabe did, she was still closer than most. She still had some angst and that was normal I guess, but that led to other social disorders and ideas.
Her views on the rich were the common misconception and while she was right to a degree, Gabe knew a few others like him that could help change that outlook for her. His parents weren't snobby like some of their so called friends, but they did like their money, once again, nothing wrong with that. Rich people were strange, how couldn't they be? I mean, if you had never had a want for anything, then how could you understand someone who was less fortunate? On the other hand, the same applied when reversed. Now I'm not saying the rich are hurting, but they seem to have problems on a different scale.
Gabe laughed and shook his head as he held up a piece of gum, well actually several pieces of gum. "You haven't lived to you've spit every color of the rainbow," he said with a boyish enthusiasm, motioning toward the front counter with his head. His feet headed toward the front, his attention still on Kat whom he watched from the corner of his eye. "I've guessed we've both learned a bit of something today," he said sort of cryptically, hoping to point out something to Kat and hopefully find a place to explain just what he was trying to do. He had picked Kat out, on the spur of the moment of course, and he wanted her to see why. To see why he devoted so much to getting to know her. If two very different people such as they could get along like this, then why couldn't everyone?

Kat had relaxed a bit, watching Gabe and eying the gum over as he explained what it did. Her eyes moved back up to his, "Wow, I wish I could hang around and share that moment.. However I don't have enough room in my life for that type of romance." Yeah, she was kinda being sarcastic and mean but in actuality she thought that the over all idea was cool. Not that she would want to chew it and try to work up the saliva to waste on the sidewalk or whichever. "Just make sure you don't shoot any DNA my way, okay?" She said as she turned around and began walking with him to the check out counter.
When they made their way to the check out Kat turned around to look at him. What was he trying to say? What did he think he really knew about her? I mean sure they had talked and such, mostly about his life for this brief bit... But she didn't really think that bragging about some sort of 'learning something' was necessary unless it was a life lesson. "Uh-huh." She said as if in disbelief. She brought her hands down in front of her and let her fingers intertwine as she watched him. "And just what was it that you learned today?" She asked in the fakest teacher like voice, almost as if she were teaching a kinder-gardener not to talk to strangers.
In actuality she was alot more laid back outside of school. With school it was strange, she wanted to be there but she didn't. Plus the stress of trying to do her best and not letting herself cut corners was hard. After all she found it so much easier to not care about something if she got discouraged.. However she couldn't do that with her work. And no matter how much she missed her sister or dreaded the feeling of being surrounded by a ton of strangers or even sweeter - people she really didn't like in the slightest - she couldn't just pack up and go home. But this was it, wasn't it? This was her last year and the last time she'd have to do this. Perhaps it had just added up over the years, hell alot had. She just had to deal with it and she usually did, when she opened her mouth. It's like it was all bottled up and festering inside of her. And though Gabe seemed resilient, was he really a 'man of steel' when it came to such harsh treatment? Cause that's another possibility, to chase people off before they can mean something and show you how little they think of you as they crush you....
